Can the 475 GNR be reloaded with the same carbide dies used for the 480 Ruger / 475 linebaugh? Such as the ones made by Lee?

Is it as straight forward as fire forming cases in a chamber that's reamed to the base of a 45-70 with no taper?

Thanks

Yes and No

1).The 480/475 dies can be used BUT they will not resize the full length of the cartridge. So the 475 GNR dies are needed.
2). yes fireforming is that simple.

Sean

But if you fireform do you really need to FL?

It would be an interesting test. I have used .50 AK to "body size" .450 GNR. But that is a bit different. I've shot quite a bit of .350 Legend and used only .38 Special (partial size) and 9mm Luger dies (seat and crimp). But than again...I'm weird.

not sure why you need to fireform as the 475 GNR is

a straight case. There is no shoulder and it is not being made from another cartridge, so why fireform? You are making it much harder than it really is. Just full length size and load.
