Reeder Custom Guns - I am hoping to go hunting in the near future ..

so I have been checking my main hunting gun .. the Bowen .41 Magnum sixgun. I ran a few of my standard hunting loads through it today. Still works good if I do my part.

It started life as a .44 Super Blackhawk. My friend Jack Pender had Bowen build it into a full custom .41 Magnum. Jack never got to shoot it, passing away from cancer before he had a chance to shoot it. John Taffin and I were asked to do his funeral. Afterwards his son gave me the pistol and said, "Daddy wanted you to have this." He gave John a beautiful Sadowski Target pistol.

The .41 has always been extremely accurate. I had Gary do some some work on it. He installed the "set back" trigger and built a new cylinder after I bulged one chamber. (with a factory load that was WAY over pressure)

I had Milt Morrison change it to a Bisley grip frame and hammer.

I have killed a truckload of deer, pigs and on elk with this gun. I shot the Cow Elk at one of Gary's Handgun hunts a few years ago.

LOL, Mine are the other ratio away. What creature are you going to be pointing that thing? I've had astonishing velocity from the common .41 Mag using old timey 2400 powder. But I mostly use LilGun these days, and a 240 or 270 gr. cast FNGC.

I am hoping to go hunting in the near future ..

I always shot more accurately that way ... BUT ..

now that is impressive but fun

The flinch is not occasional. It's pretty always there.
