Reeder Custom Guns - earlier I was talking to Winn Turner when he bought the

new Outlaw. During that conversation Winn went off on a tangent, which is better than going off in a Prius. He asked about shorty shotguns for home defense. Now the short shotguns are not considered shotguns by the Feds. They are "firearms" and that way they can put out these 12 to 14" firearm's that resemble shotguns legally. Anyway Winn said with all his enemies he needed a short "firearm" in semi auto mode. I told him I also was looking for one but hadn't had time to see what was available. So, here is what I came up with...
Remington V3 Tac 13
Charles Daly Defense Honcho Tactical
Charles Daly Honcho Tactical Triple )This is the triple barrel shotgun, break open just like a double barreled shotgun except it has 3 barrels.
Black Aces Tactical Pro
Tactical Pro Series mini...it has a 10" barrel and has a brace attached to make the 10" barrel legal.
Those are the 5 I have come up with that are all 12 gauge semi auto "firearms". There are probably a few others that I missed. If you are thinking of one too, just google it and see if it is what you want.

I forget if it was a Mossberg or Remington but no matter. I normally would not think of a 20 but with T-shot it is quite a formidable arm and very easy to manage in a rapid manner. Don't pass on a deal for a good 20.

I have an old Stevens 5100 that has it's barrels hacked off at 19". It served it's life as a wonderful do it all hunting gun, now it's set to last another 2/3 century as a protector and camp gun. I also whacked the 28" barrel off a Mossberg 20 ga. M500 and added a $30 Hogue grip. Suddenly it's a fantastic protector pistil grip gun and only 2 or 3" longer than these modern 14" barreled handheld smoothbores.

Making your own can be fun and is perfectly legal.

The 20 DB with caliber conversion inserts. Short range is no problem but I think I can dial them in and mark the barrels and chambers for POA.

Chiappa makes a model of insert that I think is better and not too much more expensive. I have one for my single shot 12 ga. It's a 12 ga. to .44 Magnum 7" model.

And they are difficult to find. I’m going to try and make one from an old DB or just bend me one from steel. It has a cut out over half of it for the release lever to clear. Little tricky.

Pretty cheap .. came with some sticky pads that wouldn't hold anything ... but I bought it with the idea of drilling holes and using wood screws to hold it onto the forend. Works fine.

Because my enemies are large and many, I opted for the 12ga.
If anybody can dodge the blast of #4 (only good for killing people} buckshot I'm toast.Thanks for the info Gary. If you ever see me in a Prius-kill me!
