if you were 50 miles from home when the pucky hits the fan and to get home you had to get thru some unsavory areas (not necessarily Arkansas) what would you have in your vehicle to help you get home to the family?
I will start the dance. In my vehicle I would theoretically have a shorty AR-15 with a 12" barrel and one of those nasty evil arm braces. Plus a couple of 1911s and a Star PD (never leave home without it). Plus plenty of ammo to keep the dance going. All in theory of course. Now what about you? If you would rather not mention your real name on here in case it is slightly illegal for you to have that belted M-60 and that M-39 with frags in the truck with you just post it as Joe Biden. I carry a Sig 365 with one spare magazine. In my truck is a Glock 19 and three magazines. Also a Ruger AR-15 "pistol" with an arm brace and four magazines. Always a knife or two. Probably enough to get me home.

I am always paranoid about car break-ins. Where I live several police cruisers have been broken into, and their ARs have been stolen in the last few years. Car break-ins are an epidemic here on the Gulf Coast. Every summer we hear on the news shit-show about the vehicle B&Es and all the guns that get swiped. They even have PSAs about it nowadays. And I live on the Redneck Riviera. I suppose if you live in the boonies its not something to worry about, but I personally would never leave a firearm in a vehicle overnight. Of course your situation and your mileage may vary.

I keep 2 45 star firestars in my truck with an extra extended mag for reload
Also have an extra knife as well as a sword cane And A 380 in my pocket with an extra mag.

My bag is black and the vehicle interior is black. With tinted windows the bag blends in well. All of the items in the bag can be replaced. No custom guns in it. I don't have any stickers promoting guns or hunting on my cars. I wouldn't remember to put the bag in every time I used the car, so this is how I do it.

mags, my USMC Kabar, plenty of ammo for the suppressed (Dead Air Nomad II) 300 BLK AR (10-30 rd. mags, some 150gr. FMJ, some 208gr. JHP subsonic.

Remember that SHTF CAN BE A NUMBER of things. On the worst end you may have to return home on foot. I have a good pair of boots that are better for walking than my steel toes that I work in and extra socks. A bag with packs of nuts and energy bars as well as water. Extra clothes for the season, 2 flashlights, matches, Portable phone charger, Compass, and a sturdy backpack.
Everyone will have a different choice of weapons. Mine are a takedown Ruger 10/22 and a glock 19 with 4 loaded magazines and a NAA 22.

Going there it's a big possibility of having your vehicle broken into. Then where are you? A good high capacity 9mm is a good idea. Right now what I have is a Beretta, you could do worse. I like the idea of carrying two guns of late. For a New York reload. My little .380 Kahr is comforting, so small even toting spare 3 mags. I usually carry at least two for the big auto. If I'm keeping close to the truck I indeed have a 10.5" AR "Pistol" and I like my AR-9 as well.

A good .30-30 M94 or M92 Win. clone is not too bad to have behind the seat either. I like to keep the magazine full and have a cartridge slide on the buttstock with back up cartridges. Shotguns are great but that ammo is bulky. Every shot is like a burst from a sub-gun. I've got a lot to choose from.

On a long distance trip I like to take a .22 handgun and brick of ammo. Even the kids can manage that. Then our (my wife and mine) carry pieces. Sometimes I carry a .45 but when I want to stay common with her SIG I can tote a 9mm too. I probably should get me a 365-XL. I like them and she and I could share mags. She has a 365X. I could not get her into Glocks, she hates them. However she still carries her M60 S&W a bunch.

COMMON SENSE! Not many people have that anymore. "Keep calm and carry on."

. . . I carry a good paper map. You never know when you may need to search for alternate routes that you do not use often, if ever. Yes, there's GPS, etc, but ya never know if that'll be available. And I try to keep my gas tank above a half-full level.

We went everywhere in the world with paper maps for a very long time.

And digital stuff can be altered, erased or just disappear.

An old atlas under the seat is not that bad of a thing.

They are like a Topo/ highway hybrid. Have every paved and dirt road in the state! Including old jeep trails and hiking trails

My bag has water,snack bars ,3 days of meds, 2 flash lights, water proof matches and tinder,2 knives, 22 mag Pocket Packer 150 rds,small bag/w 12ga # 4s,socks, undies ,gloves ,space blankets,water purification tablets,5th of burbon...12ga 870/20 inch under the seat with mag extension tube,map. I wear hiking shoes daily and keep a extra heavy hoodie in the truck in cold weather and a lite water repellent jacket in warmer weather...Thats about all I can carry a distance...
