original Triple-lock S&W .455 today. Blue and unaltered. Tight as new, shot little carried a bit. Had a 1-1/2 page Jinks letter with it too. I just didn't have $1250 with me. It was left over from the hopeful British contract, shipped to one of the American hardware stores and sold commercially. In 1917.

He also had a bit later 90%+ Hand Ejector in .44 Special. I knew better than to ask what he wanted for that.

I have a very modest N-frame collection. I really like the old Colt New Service but I'm forced to admit it don’t fit me well. S&W rules. I have that M27, a 3” 657, 4” Reeder 28/57, and a delightful 624. I’ve tried some smaller old Smiths but the sights are invisible. There the Colts take over for me. Pocket, Police Positives, Official Police’ all very shootable guns for me. The S&W J and late K are good too, I can see the sights.

That Triple lock sure is alluring.

adds to the value but it might make it a much better deal when you consider it. I've read of modding .45 Colt cases to make brass, however Starline makes the MKII version. It would be interesting to load for it, using .454" projectiles.

I have seen many modified for .45 ACP and much reduced cost.
