What`s your opinion of Rock Island Armory

The 10mm was the most expensive and it was $600.00. It has the ambidextrous safety, a magazine well, G10 grips, adjustable sights, and a fiber optic front sight.. Oh ya and bull barrel. I like it second best of the 4 (22 magnum version is my favorite), i’ve had no problems with it, and shoot mostly powder coated bullets. Fired cases are hard to find because it sends them either to the next county, or perhaps low orbit….that is why it is second favorite and not favorite.
The 45 ACP version is the 3.5 inch barrel “Officers” model and was the first one i bought. I bought all of them new and like them all. The only one i’ve had a problem with is the 9mm, 5” government model. It “nose dives” the first 2 cartridges with the magazine that it came with (a 10 round magazine). I thought it was a magazine problem, because the Ed Brown magazines and one (9round) MecGar magazine don’t nose dive, but that nose diving magazine works fine in the Ed Brown 1911. Speaking of Ed Brown, the Ed Brown is a nicer pistol than the Rock Island pistol, but i’m not sure it is over 2 thousand dollars nicer!
I really like the Rock Island 1911s, and will probably get a 38 Super version someday, if i can find one when i have money in my pocket.

I have a long slide 45 acp with target sights ...straight out of the box it was a shooter at 25 an 50 yds with American eagle ammo...Its a keeper

our own frames were back ordered from the company that casts them for us we used the RIA frames and they were just as good as any other 1911 on the market.
