a reference to sealing percussion caps on cap-n-ball sixguns that is. Some time ago I asked if anyone had ever run into information on this. Now I located some. Sam Fadala did some tests over 20 years ago using soft candle wax to seal around the rim of the percussion cap Where it meets the nipple. He placed the Ruger Old Army in a high 90% humidity situation for three days and then fired the Ruger. He did this eight times for a total of 48 shots. All 48 fired with normal velocities. This would make a stainless steel Old Army or Remington New Model Army exceptionally reliable in wet weather.
