a reference to sealing percussion caps on cap-n-ball sixguns that is. Some time ago I asked if anyone had ever run into information on this. Now I located some. Sam Fadala did some tests over 20 years ago using soft candle wax to seal around the rim of the percussion cap Where it meets the nipple. He placed the Ruger Old Army in a high 90% humidity situation for three days and then fired the Ruger. He did this eight times for a total of 48 shots. All 48 fired with normal velocities. This would make a stainless steel Old Army or Remington New Model Army exceptionally reliable in wet weather.

the possibles bag? Sounds plausible.

We made an electrical splice once where we were not supposed to. Adhering to strict code, it was a real situation involving considerable resources. So we got a small box and made a trap around the very secure splice. It took about 1-1/2 boxes of paraffin but it made a block of solid wax around it. That was 2013, so far so good. I know nothing! Don't remember anything either.

The two most important rules to ensure ignition is to pop a cap or two to clear oils, open the nipple. AND make durn sure the cap is fully seated. I've personally kept C&B loaded for months and they fired fine. But get sloppy and you'll be removing nipples over live chambers and trying to dribble in fresh powder.
