Watched this 1966 movie about a 1926 steam powered American gunboat on the Yangtze River in China. Pretty good action with 1911s, BARs, Lewis machine guns. Steve McQueen was the main character.

Great movie

That was the San Pablos.in the movie...There were three actual gun boats on the Yangtze and the US forces left China in 1937 after the Japanese invaded. The Panay was bombed by the Japanese as it was leaving China with two other boats and the Nanking Marine Garrison commander and his family. I knew his son in the Corps.

One of my all time favorites!

wrote a funny short about busybody wealthy women (the U.D.D.-ers) protesting the Soviets launching dogs, and them protesting by running their dogs up flagpoles by hind legs, swearing not to release the dogs until all moondogs were safely returned.
