and I see several trade in M64 S&W on the market for a good price. Should handle +P loads fine.
The .44 is a bit more difficult on a budget. The Key-lock S&W are less expensive than previous models, which bring a premium. I'm back to the old Ruger Super BH but they are big money too right now. Strange market times.
You really need $1000 budget to pick and choose widely. Hopefully you have some money left over for accessories and ammo. Cutting that in half ($500) and some luck in the used market you can find a good .357. Taurus makes a good serviceable gun. I have a few.
