guns and Moose

Please read this. I shudder to think of the internet readers who will believe the one remark about a larger gun.

She said no musher would ever travel with a rifle or a large caliber gun, instead preferring to scare off animals with a flare gun. And with all the jostling of the sled, the larger guns could easily go off.

i know for a fact that a well placed shot. from a reeder ruger 45 colt fired one handed, can stop the attack instantly and if the attack resumes, another shot will put an end to it.

that kept me in one piece with no injury, though one of my two dogs died from the attack before i even knew the moose was there.

i personally know two people who were seriously injured by moose attacks and many others who had close calls.

wouldnt think of being out on a dog sled, snowmobile, or four wheeler and not being adequately armed.
