Two years ago when sending my revolver the FedEx counter person told me it was their policy to not ship handguns from an unlicensed party and that I would need an FFL to send it for me. They also told me that I was required to disclose if it was a handgun. I just knew that arguing with the person would do no good.
I took my box, went home and removed the cylinder and grip frame putting the parts in bags. Went back the next day. When they asked if it was a handgun I said it was gun parts.
Before this I had sent handgus to an FFL without issue.
