Reeder Custom Guns - Found On The Shooting Range

Not by me. A friend who works a shooting range in New Mexico found these the other day.

Breach fully closed when that went off. Could have fired it in a .22 WMR chamber too. I do that on occasion, they shoot ok actually. Sometimes brass splits. But for emergency…

never had one that looked like that. Looks to me like the it fired out of battery for some reason.

dirt and residue holding the breach open a little bit or perhaps a very weak recoil spring allowed the bolt to open a smidge premature, with pressure still high.

I've read that some early Colt .22's did NOT have recessed rimfire chambers and they cautioned against hi-speed .22 ammo. Now days most rimfire revolvers still have recessed chambers. I guess not too bad an idea on any rimfire. Centerfires with recessed chambers (like my M27 S&W) make me remember back in the day they had balloon case head brass. I guess they could let go under the right circumstances.

Found On The Shooting Range

Looks like the chamber was not supported or

I have fired 22 LR in the Magnum chambers ..

Yeah, probably a semi-auto of some type
