and boxes of 44 mag brass. I have several 44 revolvers, all S&W model 29, and 629. I hunt with my single action revolvers and keep the S&Ws just because. I don't get my kicks with those balls to the wall loads like I used to but I do enjoy my Smiths. So I decided that this weekend I would do like Dirty Harry did and load up the 44 mags to hot 44 Special loads. I figure a 240 grain JSP and 17 or 18 grains of 2400 would be fine or maybe 10 grains of Unique and the same bullet would do. They would be fine for home defense and OK for the smaller game like Javelina and Coues deer and such. The Coues deer is small and would run maybe 80 lbs and the scoped model 29 would be fine for them, if I ever get drawn. So that is my plan for this weekend.
