Do you remember what bullet used int he barrowed .454

but I think they were Sierra 300 grain soft points. Michael is on here quite often so he can correct me on that. The revolver was a 454 Casull Freedom Arms with a scope on it that we had done some work on it for Michael. Whatever bullets they were they did a good job.

The buff wasn't happy with us being in his territory. In the pic at about 65 yards he was daring us to come any closer.

But at that range the tall grass was covering everything including his shoulder where I needed to place the bullet. John said for us to walk straight at him and he would probably just stand there and paw the ground, blowing thru his nose and saying bad things about my Mother. We got to about 25 yards before I could see his shoulder clear enough to take the shot, and at 25 yards even in the tall grass the buff gave me a clear broadside shot.
The first shot broke the left front shoulder. The bull went to his knees then staggered back up. John, the PH, told me to hit him again which I did. The second shot was a bit higher than the first and blew up both lungs. The bull staggered a couple more feet then went down on his nose. In the pics you see the blood he was blowing out his nose after the lung shot. The whole thing was over in less than a minute. I consider myself extremely lucky, having taken a huge Cape Buffalo with basically a hot 45 Long Colt.

Knowing John was behind me with his 475 Jeffery's #2 was a comforting feeling.

This is the bullet that blew up the lungs. The shoulder shot bullet wasn't recovered.


In the pic the lower hole is the round that broke both shoulders. The upper hole is the lung shot.

I’m running the extra ammo from that hunt where I’m at in Texass now, chasin’ hogs around. They work for Quigley shots, if the pigs line up for you. No problem drilling both shoulders, and going thru the next.
