to brush my teeth-- joking--I used a lot of those 300 Sierras in my .45 and .454- very accurate & mushed nose is about all -- but that is all you needed thanks again

How fast did you run those SIerras? Back when I got some they Sierra tech said they needed to run around 1600fps or faster. I can't get that with my 4 3/4" 45,,, So in the 454 they had to go.

was using a borrowed gun. The load was a hot 45 Long Colt and the nosed deformed perfectly. So I guess we had it running fine.

25.5 grains if 2400. Depending on different ballistic. Calculators, they say from 1480-1550 FPS. That accuracy load of powder (you can squeeze 27.0 grains in max) with either the 300 Sierra or 300 Swift has cleanly killed half my critters in Africa and N America. Bison, Big Alaskan Moose, Cape buffalo, and on down to little critters.
It may not sound ferocious, but it’s is an awesome load and gun. When I was testing bullets in media, I had an 8’ table loaded with piles of wood, water jugs etc. The .454 was the only round that made the table jump on impacting the test media.
