planning to post it here but it is so good and simple, I wanted to do it. So read this. You won't regret it.
The way God does things are not complicated. He does things in simple straight-forward ways. It's just that He does things in ways we never consider.
Consider Goliath. Challenging Israel to fight. No one wants to go fight him. He's ten and a half feet tall! The best in the Israeli Army say "No way. I ain't fighting him." What does God do? Uses a young teenager with a slingshot and a rock. No one even considered that!
Look at the guy who was born blind. Jesus did not spend hours praying over him. He did not bind, rebuke and cast out the spirits of blindness. He spit in the dirt, made some mud, packed it into the guy's sightless eyes and says, "Go wash the mud out of your eyes." When the guy did that, the blindness washed out also.
With the woman who was caught having sex with some guy not her husband the religious folks wanted to kill her. Jesus didn't even talk to them other than to write something in the dirt and then say, "Whoever among you is sinless throw the first stone!" They all knew they were just as guilty as anyone and left. He looked at the woman and said, "Who is there that is gonna accuse you?" She looked around and said, "No one Lord." He then said, "I ain't accusing you either. Go on. But change your lifestyle. It ain't healthy." Now she knew that according to the law, they could have killed her and no one would have said a thing about it. When Jesus told her she could go, she walked out free. Don't you think that did something in her?
He ain't asking folks to jump through a bunch of religious hoops or to work really hard trying to do better. He's just asking us to trust Him to do in us what needs to be done. Sit down someplace comfortable. Get quiet. Then have a conversation with Him. Let Him know what is bothering you. You won't surprise Him with anything. Then just sit and listen and wait. Don't spend the entire time talking. Let it soak. And don't get all caught up with guilt over your failures. He is totally aware of them and He ain't surprised. He knows what we are like more than we do! The crazy thing is ... HE STILL LIKES US!
Make it a habit to visit with Him every day. Talk to Him during the day. Listen for Him. Look for Him. Expect Him to show up in ways you will not imagine. It's simple. It's being a Friend. When He visited Abraham it was not like when the President rolls up with guards and lookouts and press agents. Nope. He just walked up one day and stayed for lunch. How neat is that? It was like, "Let's sit down, have lunch and talk."
You might invite Him sometime.
Don't make it religious ... which is another word for complicated.
