Probably missed an earlier discussion on this?

I haven't had any trouble finding my favorite powders since the Plandemic started, until today. My usual reloading supply source is out of almost everything Alliant. PowerPistol is what I'm running low on. It looked like they had plenty of the Hodgdon/Western powders I use in stock. Is there something in particular going on with Alliant? Hodgdon distributes Alliant, right?

Alliant powders that we use are manufactured in

Sweden, ie RL15, 16, RL19, RL 22 , 23 and have been told by our distributers perhaps next spring. Starting to see some IMR powders again along with some of the Hodgdon powders like H380, several type of Vihtavuori

The store owner did mention Alliant comes from Sweden.

I am a Vihtavuori fan but when it became scarce 6, 8, or was it 10(?) years ago I just moved on to others. Still have some VV320 I bought when it became available again. Thanks for the info!

boy, you are lucky if you haven't had any trouble getting

powder. Every gun shop that I am familiar with and have friends that work there have had no powder at all for months and no primers for longer than that. We deal with the 4 largest distributors in the country and they have had NO powder or primers since last summer at the latest. Gun shops have to deal with distributors so we can't go to places like Powder Valley and others as we would be paying full retail and would have to price it so high nobody would buy it. A young guy was in the store a few days back and was happier that chit. He had found some Varget at a gun show and found a 4 or 5 lb jug and only had to pay $550, $125 a pound, and thought he got a deal. He also paid $85 per brick of small rifle primers.

The powder and primer situation is and has been bad all over. Every Friday and Saturday we have folks come in from southern California and southern Utah plus Phoenix looking for powder and primers due to their local gun shops not having any at all. A lot of our powders come from Australia and due to their bad covid problem they have been shipping nothing for months due to a lot of places that won't let them dock. So if it isn't one thing, it's another. And if you are finding the powder you normally use thank your lucky stars and you are one in a million that has found it.

I'm guessing they still have a good supply since

most shooters around here (Illinois/Indiana) are either running low on primers or afraid they'll run out so they are not shooting and / or reloading as much. So they're not using as much powder? For the last 18 months I pretty much just load for competition and don't practice except with .22's or sometimes factory 9mm. Thanks for the heads up on powder Gary and I'll stock up on what I use (other than Alliant) this weekend. I did stock up on primers when you sounded the alarm in summer '20 but unfortunately not quite enough!

NO THEY DO NOT
