Can anyone explain this to me?
There is a Win. Model 70 in 270 on Gunbroker that has
5 days left with 82 bids. It is @
$4,810.00! I have one just like it that I bought new in the 80's. Hunted with it for
30+ years. It is a great walking gun.
It is a cabine and they advertised it as the lightest 70 they sold at the time.
Why in the world would it be worth that?

It’s Pandalerium out there!

let the other guy beat them. I have seen this a lot. Recently there was a standard Marlin 336 in 30-30 on there. Nothing special but two guys started bidding against each other. It finally sold for $10,200. I looked at the bidding sheet and it was at first 3 guys then one dropped out and the other 2 went at it, one bid after the other until finally one of them got smart and dropped out. But the other guy had bid $10,200 and had bought the most expensive Marlin I have ever seen.

Mini-14 for how much? Pandalerium is correct!
