the Maxi Throat is simply a longer version of the Taylor

Throat. It is like a funnel that funnels the bullet smoothly into the rifling. Normally the rifling is right at the end of the barrel and is sharp and jagged. It distorts the bullet which effects your accuracy. The Taylor Throat did the same thing but our bullets back in the 1950s were shorter and lighter bullets whereas the bullets these days tend to be longer and heavier, so the Maxi Throat allows the bullet to be completely in the barrel before it encounters the rifling and then it smoothly slides it into the rifling. It also reduces the pressures a bit in the process.
