Yes or no, and what color, green, purple or blue. Will blue break loose w/o heat if I need to remove it, these are about.125 dia screws and “torque “ says 18 inch lbs.

Help appreciated.

If it’s something I plan on removing

I use 222 on the rings and 242 on the base screws

Quick answer, BLUE

The blue can be removed. The red requires 600 deg. heat. I once even used green but it is forever, call it chemical welding. It's used for cylinder liners in cast engine blocks etc.

Back in the old days we used a teeny dollop of mom's fingernail polish. It worked. Likely so did the inventor of Lock-tite. lol

I never remove scope bases once I install them. Why

would you need to? I not only use red Lok Tite on all scope bases but I also put a small dab of 2 part epoxy on the open spot on the Leupold base. Plus I never use anything except Leupold dual dovetail base and rings. There is no way the rings can come loose in that set up. The Leupold set up is the best on the market, yet on the HHC hunts I always see guys with some aluminum crap on their guns.

My 450 GNR that I took a Cape Buffalo with back in 2018 was put on there probably 20 years ago and is still on there. Not that it is doing me any good as that was one of 3 guns stolen in Qatar so some raghead is using it today.

Thank you both.

Be careful identifying Loctite by color

Loctite corporation makes several hundred different adhesives and the majority are either blue, red, green, or clear. For example; high strength thread adhesive and hydraulic sealant are both red. 242 (blue) and 262 (red) is what you want.

What’re you up to?
