I am no fan of Glocks and have never been drawn to them, but a good friend just picked up a brand new .22 Long Rifle Glock 44 and brought it out to the house.

We went in the shop and looked at it .. loaded it up and shot it on my indoor range. We were not shooting far .. maybe 20/25 feet.

The thing is LIGHT. I barely weighs a pound fully loaded. The trigger was the best I have ever shot on a Glock ... not that I have a lot of experience with them. Over the years I have shot 9mm's and 40's and was never impressed with the trigger. This one had a nice trigger pull and release. Easy to shoot.

We ran about 50 rounds through it. I have to admit it is a nice little gun.

There is a booming market for training .22RF

SIG, Walther, Beretta, 1911, Glock was late to the party. I chose a Taurus TX22 myself. Most are easily adaptable to suppressors too. That doubles the fun. The main reason I bought the Taurus.

I loved my Kimber 1911 dedicated .22 but as you said it was so light. It sort of fouled me up a bit transitioning. Muscle memory was there but it felt like a brick (loaded 1911 .45). Still they are all fun and useful. I'm more than pleased with the Taurus, reliable and accurate.

I read that the man that wanted to kill the Supreme Court Justice was found with a semi automatic handgun and they showed a plastic sack of .22LR ammo... that he had... Was that fool actually planning on the use of a .22 semiauto for that???

Remember Ronald Regan was shot with a .22

You are thinking of Jack Ruby who was the shooter that shot JFK's supposed assassin with a 2" snubbie 38. Sirhan Sirhan was the dude that shot Bobby Kennedy and as far as I can remember he is still in prison. They are getting ready to let the guy that shot Reagan out of prison for good behavior. Hopefully all that is right. It has been a long time since the early to mid 60s. I wore a younger man's clothes then.

I've had a Glock 44 for about a year now...

I have to admit that I do like it. Mine is quite accurate. Trigger is typical Glock. Sights are adjustable and good. Mine has been totally reliable with a large array of different 22 LR ammo. I haven't had a malfunction that wasn't caused by ammo failure due to priming compound missing from part of the rim.

The best thing about it is that it is identical in size, shape and operation to a Glock 19 9mm (although much lighter...). Fits my existing array of Glock 19 holsters. I can let my lovely wife shoot it as much as she wants, and that training carries over to her Glock 19, without her even realizing it. By shooting it she is building muscle memory and skills for the 9mm. Shooting her Glock 19 more than a couple of mags is not enjoyable for her, but she happily will shoot the Glock 44 for hours...
