As I mentioned I'm amazed at the .22 WMR semi's

I remember several failed attempts at semi-auto rifles and several failed pumps and levers that didn't do very well. Winchester had a dud and the new Henry pump is not getting very good reviews. The Browning BPR in WMR is very highly sought. I guess some were trying to adapt .22 LR designs and didn't get it quite figured out. Remember the Remington and Ruger attempts?

Now of all things several companies have figured out .22 WMR semi-auto handguns! I never would have thought.

I actually started my early handgun shooting with a pretty well made FIE (actually identical to the Colt RF commemoratives) in .22 WMR and the LR cylinder. I had a couple boxes of the yellow and red X Winchester JHP. It made an earsplitting report and spit a little stinging my arms if I got them too far outboard. But I had me a Magnum!

I remember GNR had a rough experience with the early .17 HMR but I have a Taurus 7-shooter that gives outstanding accuracy and over 2000 fps performance from a 6.5". Around here it is useful as it will not ricochet. If that tiny bullet hits about anything it blows apart. I've shot some, but not really tested, the heavier 20 gr. ammo. As to the .22 WMR I find it more reliable as to ignition. Don't ever remember having a .22 WMR dud.
