I will have to disagree with you on one point

The 1911 does not wear out faster than the polymer guns. We get old WW2 guns in here all the time to reblue or personalize and in most cases the guns are fine as far as wear and tear on internals. Very seldom do we have to change or replace any parts of the old 1911s. Mostly the old fellows want new sights as their eyes are quite up to par.

I have a 1911 AMT Longslide that I used in combat shooting for years and I know for sure it has over 72,000 rounds thru it as I kept track of the rounds shot, and I have never replaced a part. We replaced a few parts before I got into the combat games for ease of shooting fast but none after that. After I dropped out of the combat games (due to candy asses running the games, like we couldn't use the word "combat" anymore and we couldn't shoot while running and so on) Kase started using the gun and used it for a couple of years before we built him and Colleen hi cap 38 Supers as both were shooting in the combat shoots. So Kase probably put a couple thousand more thru it but I didn't keep count of how many he shot.
But we get a lot more of the polymer guns in here for new parts as we do the old steel 1911s.
As far as you walking around with your pants around your ankles just sounds like you are getting a bit more kinky in your old age.
