Saeco Moulld Storage

I haven’t used a non aluminum mould since the 1990s (Lyman). I recently bought a Saeco 383 mould (140 grain .356 SWC) and i don’t recall what i used to keep the mould from rusting between casting sessions. What do y’all use these days?

INCLUDING SAECO, RCBS, LYMAN DATING BACK 50+ YEARS ARE STORED IN A CABINET INDOORS. NO PROBLEMS. IF YOU LIVE WHERE MOISTURE IS A PROBLEM OR MUST STORE THEM OUTDOORS IN A SHED, ANY OIL SHOULD DO. BUT THEN YOU HAVE TO CLEAN THEM OUT BEFORE USE. DO NOT, REPEAT DO NOT EXPECT LEAVING A BULLET IN THE MOLD TO PROTECT THEM. RUST LIKES TO GET UNDER BULLETS LEFT IN MOLDS.

When i was in Oregon i left the moulds in the garage, but i oiled all of the tools. I don’t remember what i used. Here in southern New Mexico i won’t worry about it. And thanks for the tip on not leaving a bullet in the mould, because i was considering doing that.
I differ a bit from John and Jim. I have quite a few molds

and other than the 44 mag mold 429421 I don't have the numbers memorized. So I leave my molds with lead in them so if I need a certain bullet I pop open the mold and can tell by looking if it is the bullet I need to cast. If not I close it and set it aside and go to the next one. A lazy man's way of telling what is what.

All of my steel moulds get sprayed down with Birchwood Casey Barricade oil when not in use or they WILL rust, even in the house. When I want to use a mould, I just give it a quick hose down with brake cleaner and it is good to go...

Beautiful area, and rain was a part of life. Here in New Mexico, people run, to try and get out of the rain.
