Although I'm not quite sure what I learned. After shooting two Old Armies, one stainless, one blue, I removed the nipples and boiled the cylinders in water with dishwashing detergent. They both came out totally clean, however half the bluing was removed from the blued cylinder. Never thought dishwashing liquid would be that strong!

Have been soaking/washing cap & ball and muzzleloaders with Dawn for years. Never effected blue until I boiled some parts in to clean. It removed some of the blueing? I figured it must have had something to do with boiling it?

MIGHT BE BUT NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE
