... often here for carry purposes. Ruger also has their 3.6 bbl Officer's model for carry. Is the shorter version deemed potentially too unreliable for SD? ... or not enough rounds?
Oops, both models are 7+1 rounds in .45

if I need more than that I should have stayed home in bed.

Gary, you sure know more about this than me. I am convinced a 1911 ( particularly my new Karnivore)is up to the task, why not load it up and carry 2 more magazines?
By the way I can't hit shit.

How many do you really need? Long time Texas Ranger, and the man who got Bonnie and Clyde, Frank Hamer normally carried "Old Lucky" A Colt Single Action .45 loaded with five rounds and he did not carry backup ammunition. When he was asked about this he said if he couldn't get it done in five rounds he was guilty of sloppy peace officering. If it is a Ruger Officers Model can certainly expect it to be reliable.
