to negate the need to add gas checks to prevent excessive leading. I could be wrong though. Why both?

powder coating replaces traditional lube

You can omit the gas check on some mild target loads, but my testing has shown if the bullet is designed for a gas check you will get the best accuracy by using one. I have a light target load I shoot in my 10mm that I don't use the gas check. All others get checked.

Yep. The base is the "Steering Wheel" ....

A friend once gave me a barrel (TC Contender) chambered for a full length .444 run through a normal .358 Win. Sizer. I think it was originally a .35 Rem. tube. The resulting ctg., if you had a brass you could make one, is rather ugly looking. Like a bigger .30/30 with the long neck. I trimmed them to .356 Win. Length to look better. The bullets are long anyway and no problem in a single shot.

You can’t load it as hot as a .358 Win. But you can get a 200 gr. up around 2200 fps pretty easy. The .35’s hit hard! Gary’s .35 on the .30/30 would be bunches cheaper to source brass and more efficient.

GC PC work on the faster rounds also

I practice with 260-270 grain bullets in the 378GNR. The barrel is super clean with these. They weigh from 261, 265, 271 depending on the size of the HP.
