Reeder Custom Guns - Couple of new guns just finished

The first one is a Doc Holliday Classic for Doug Albeck. Doug wanted it to be a bit different that most of our Docs. He wanted this one to have the long barrel like on the factory Vaqueros. He wanted it in 45 Long Colt and wanted the stainless high polished. He wanted the hammer & trigger jeweled and the gun full engraved with western motif. He wanted Mongolian stag grips made and fit to the Gunfighter Grip. The gun has had the full Positive Performance Package and is very smooth and accurate. All in all a really nice and unusual Doc.

Next we have a Trail Rider Classic for Ray Shepard, actually for his wife Danielle. He wanted it in the 240 Banshee with an unfluted cylinder and 5 1/2" barrel. The gun is fully satin Vapor Honed with silver accents including 2 silver bands on the cylinder. The grips are Mongolian stag and the gun has a Bisley hammer and trigger. It has had the full Positive Performance Package and is smooth and accurate. Another nice and unusual Trail Rider Classic.

I have a .240 Banshee TC barrel and was very surprised at the performance. Jacketed bullets around 80 grs. was about the top for the available powder. 60-70 grs. projectiles gave the best performance of power. There are some bullets even lighter these days. Older school lead core bullets perform fine as some new fangled bullets are designed around 4000 fps speeds.

I have a .255 Banshee on a Blackhawk chassis (8-shot) and enjoy it very much. I chose that caliber so to shoot some cast .25 WCF projectiles. My favored projectiles are 65-75 grs. with flat tips. The Speer is hands down favorite, Hornady makes a lighter jacketed bullet but I've not tried it. The bark is like a .357 but it recoils like a heavy frame .38 Special. Just a little jump.

My Single-Six Reeder custom is a .40 S&W cal. LOL Brass was cheaper than 10mm and I just seat the bullets to 10mm OAL and shoot 10mm loads anyway. I got to be me.

Before and after. It was a custom .32 H&R but I had Gary do a 5-shot caliber change and new barrel. The Ruger stock barrel/cylinder demanded .312" bullets and my others shoot .308. The .40 is a total hoot and cheap to shoot!

It is quite unique in a revolver. But I like different. The conversation explaining the cartridge to someone who doesn't handload is always enjoyable as well. In retrospect I probably would have gotten the barrel a bit longer, but I'm still learning. It sure is a beauty though! Thanks Gary.

Mandates a shoulder rig, no way a belt gun! But I’ve never come back from a shooting session with unfired ammo, just too fun. Think of it as a cool, more powerful, and reloadable .24 WMR with carbine power.
