A while back I rescued a couple small Opossum. I thought they were baby’s. I now know they actually were several months old. Today we decided to release them back into the wild. Our small pond looked like a good environment to give them a fighting chance. I see some Raccoon activity that was fresh.
The transfer did not go exactly as planned. Feisty and mean little boogers! Bit my welding gloves soundly a couple times. A possum bite is pretty serious as to infection. We found an old burrow under a solid tree along the pond bank. My daughter Victoria was involved from the start. We left a serving of applesauce and some cat food at the mouth of the little hole on a paper plate. I tried to leave the whole cage but the angles were wrong full of angry little marsupials! In the end I dumped the little toots out. They liked the burrow so we quietly
backed away.
We learned a lot about the little critters and had fun taking care of them for a while.
