around, since 1935. No mention of the .204 Ruger (my personal favorite) or the .17 Remington. I got 3500 fps from a 14" Contender handgun and a 25 gr. Core-Lock in .17. The .204 is blistering at 4400 fps for some Hornady factory ammo, the original 32 gr. ran over 4200 fps.
For varmints the .204 is fantastic. A little quieter than a .223 and shoots flat like a .22-250. Which also cracks 4000 fps with a 40 gr. bullet, FWIW.
