Today at noon was the big gun show in kalispell MT. In my haste I left a revolver on the hood of my truck. When I came out of the gun show 6 hours later the gun was still there..

the shop, unloaded 5 or 6 Jack Russells (we usually have 8 or 10 of them in the shop every day) and spent 30 minutes getting the guns out of the safes. A young fellow came in and bought some 45 Long Colt ammo. When I started to give him his change the register was empty. I told him to hang in there a minute and went back out to my truck. The keys were in the ignition and the money bag and checkbook were on the front seat. Like Denning, stupid but lucky.

I went out to the wood pile to get some wood and found my .45 Colt laying there on top of the pile, in the holster with the belt wrapped around it. I had laid it there about 4 or 5 days before and forgot about it.

who went to shoot his Super Redhawk in 454 Casull. When he was done he set it on his truck while he tended to something else then got in and drove away. He only realized his error when he got home. He drove back the same way looking for it but couldn't find it. The part I disagreed with was that he went to the cops and reported the gun stolen. I don't know if the gun ever turned up but I thought that was a dishonorable move.

by law to report it. There is a small chance that he will get it back. When we buy guns we have to call the police and give them the serial number to see if it is a stolen gun. I would have done the same thing. If some yoyos got the gun and use it in a crime and the gun is recovered in the crime scene the cops are going to come looking for your friend if he didn't report it stolen. He might have a hard time trying to explain things. We get about one gun trace a week from the ATF asking who bought a certain gun that was used in a crime.
