I would grab one in a New York minute. I have shot all the semi auto hunting handguns and the Auto Mags were by far the most accurate, especially the 41 Auto Mags. The most dependable was the LAR Grizzly as it was just an overgrown 1911. The Wildey and the Desert Eagle I won't go into any comments on either. But the Auto Mags, especially the B model with the solid bolt, in 41 Auto Mag, was the absolute finest semi auto hunting handgun ever. I have taken everything from turkey to Bison with mine and if they jammed or had any problems it was due to my handloads. I had 11 Auto Mags at one time. When the prices started going sky high on them I started weeding the batch out one at a time, until I got down to 3 guns. I When I sold my last one the company that is making the new Auto Mags was projecting delivery in a few months. I wanted to try one of them and that was the only reason I sold my last Auto Mag, plus a fellow at the custom show who offered me $4500 for it. Unfortunately I have yet to see any of the new Auto Mags. Alcorn has had one paid for for a couple of years and nothing yet. I sure hope the new Auto Mags will see the light of day before too long.
When our gun shop was in Florida we would book a handgun hunt every 8 weeks, usually up at Tellico Junction in Tennessee. A couple of my guys there at the shop also hunted exotics with their Auto Mags. I also hunted Bison in Texas with the 44 Auto Mag and quite a few medium size critters in Africa with that same gun. What all this boils down to is I really like the Auto Mag.
