Unusual application testing….
Probably my favorite DA is this 4” RH set for .45 ACP and .45 Colt. The aluminum cases came primed as well, average 1.95” give or take. Same as a .45 Win. Mag. I’ve never tested but it looks like a go with the full moon clips.

My fist pause is the loading. I wanted a snappy load. H110 starting load for a 230 gr. seemed good. Primers?! I’d doubt CCI would use Magnums for snake loads, but for 120 gr. in a .45 ACP I don’t know, still unlikely. I’d figure a fast low density powder for max payload room. But these are not compressed loads.

The loaded rounds look good. I need to check velocity (faster than spec. may highlight a bit less internal capacity), extraction character (too lite loads with slick aluminum cases will set back instantly), and primer ignition. I have no desire to go hotter with loading anyway. I also wanted to load them again as some say you can. I’m having lots of fun so far.

I very minimally mouth expanded and crimped, knowing aluminum does not like to be moved around much. The internal capacity was pretty full with 27.5 gr. I measured the seating and left just a teeny airspace. It looked like the cases had good pull on the bullet.
