Carried a pair of 7-1/2" Colt 1851 Navy .36s fully engraved, silverplated, and ivory gripped. These were a gift from someone he had guided on a hunt. He carried them but to the front, not in the holsters, but tucked in a sash around his waist. It was also said he emptied them every morning and loaded them afresh.
