A very special estate 1917 revolver
Colleen bought out an estate today and this jewel was in there. It is an original S&W DA 45. It is the model 1917 and by the serial number was in the first year's production between 1917 and 1918. The gun is all original and all proof marks and stampings are clean and distinct. The gun is chambered in 45 ACP and the chambers are clean with no pitting or rust. The grips are the original grips again from late 1917. The gun was covered in grease in the holster shown. I wiped most of the grease off but left enough to show it is a true original 1917. The only marks on the gun is a rub mark on the right side of the lower barrel. It is a rub mark, not a scratch. It is just where the holster rubbed the barrel.
The holster markings plus the lanyard ring on the holster give it more originality. For someone that collects WW1 era firearms this is the crown jewel.
The blue book shows the gun in this condition plus the holster at $2650 or more. We thought about putting it on gunbroker but rather than go thru the hassle we decided to post it on here at a good price before going the gunbroker route.
So here is your chance to have an original war time production 1917 in 45 ACP. I have priced this gun well under book value at $1995.
