He takes a 7.5" Redhawk and shortens it to 6" (why 6"?!?) then gently polishes off all the crisp edges, ends with an action tune and custom shaped grips that sort of look factory but are NOT.

The result is NOTHING like Ruger has ever made. It looks like a Redhawk, only a teeny bit shorter, not even much. But I can't describe the changed feel. Astonishing.

This has influenced me to seek subtle changes that make all the difference. He found them in that platform, they have to be out there. Maybe I can find them on others. A monster is created.

I bought a SIG 320X-carry at the urgings of my son. Actually he wanted the new Military M18 but I wanted no safety lever and a flat trigger, but otherwise they are the same. Basically what it becomes is the SIG version of a Glock M45, the G19 slide and G17 grip. I found the grip on the X-Carry too long, it just does not feel right. So I ordered a Wilson X-Carry module. It fits flush with the 17-shot mags. It was better but that length just was not as handy as the 15-shot Compact model, even though I liked the extra 1/2" long slide/barrel.

Wilson makes a 320 X-Compact module but it has this ugly little tit hanging down at the back of the frame. Plus I already had the longer module. So for the price of a new module I bought a 15-shot SIG mag. (made for them by Mec-Gar in Italy) and plan on butchering my Wilson module. I think I can clamp it upside down in the vice and using my Smithy 1220 and end mill I can precisely shorten it to fit the shorter 15 shot mags, it will still work fine with the longer mags of course.

I made some mock photos of the small change but I bet it will be a Goldilocks mod. I remember my FA2008 that I kept whacking the 15" barrel on everything in AK. I thought just ONE inch shorter would be perfect. Gary cut off 3" and put on a 2" brake, re-chambering to .378 GNR, it was "fixed! The relentless pursuit of perfection.

Most unintentional, but good stuff. Passing it on to the next generation now.
