there is no set OAL. I use 2.50 as my personal OAL when loading the 400 GNR. Also I use bullets made for the 38-40 that has a cannelure and just seat to the crimp. That also works fine for the 400 GNR. Try to use bullets that have a cannelure and just seat to that cannelure. None of the bullets I used during the developing of the cartridge went over 2.5" OAL.
