a good while, but it's time. Our Trail Gun has been very popular and we have built them on S&Ws, Rugers, Colts, and other brands in small pocket size guns and medium size revolvers. I felt it was time for something a bit bigger with a bit more power but still in the Trail Gun type of revolver. This brought about the new TRAIL HAWK. This gun, obviously is based on the Ruger Redhawk. The prototype TRAIL HAWK was to be chambered in either the 44 Magnum or the 429 GNR. As this was to be my personal gun it is chambered in the 429 GNR. This Trail Hawk has a shortened barrel, to 6" and has our interchangeable blade front sight with the gold bead. It has the fully rounded Gunfighter Grip including the rounding of the upper back side of the frame, removing the sharp flat top of the grip frame and giving it a better feeling rounded shape which fits the hand much better and doesn't dig into the web of the hand. I had a set of blue and black laminated grips made and fit to my Trail Hawk and a soft satin Vapor Honed finish. It has minimal engraving with just 2 dangerous game animals engraved on the lower frame. The gun has had the Positive Performance Package done to it and is slick and very accurate. We are bypassing the time consuming part of the package by not replacing the cylinder. Instead we simply rechamber it to a more powerful cartridge. The 357 Magnum Redhawk can be rechambered to the 356 GNR. The 41 Magnum Redhawk can be rechambered to either the 41 GNR or the more powerful 410 GNR. The 44 Magnum Redhawk can be rechambered to the 429 GNR. Mine is chambered in the 429 GNR. With the $2400 in work that is done on the customer's Redhawk it should be priced at $2195 on the customer's base Redhawk. Instead and with the recession slapping us around here is the good part. I have decided to keep the new TRAIL HAWK at a very reasonable price. It is priced at $1695 on the customer's base Redhawk. The options to the TRAIL HAWK package are...
more engraving...no charge (up to 50% coverage)
a different barrel length...no charge (3½ to 7½")
different grips including various colored laminates or a dark walnut...no charge
Mongolian stag grips...$200 extra
high polished gun...no charge
different front sights...no charge... (red, green or gold bead or black ramp)
your name or initials....no charge
So the new TRAIL HAWK is truly built to your specs. And I am going to try to get the guns built in 4 to 6 months. The TRAIL HAWK is a completely different new trail gun and with this handgun you will be ready for whatever the trail hands you. The TRAIL HAWK, $1695 on your Redhawk.
