I am considering having Gary rebarrel my CZ 527 to the .257 Raptor and was wondering if the magazine will be long enough to work with it. It appears the longest round I could fit in the mag would be 2.32” overall. Would that give me sufficient room to be effective?

You need to take a look at various 25 caliber bullets

to see if they will fit. The Raptor is based on the 204 case so you should be able to find a bullet that will fit when seated to the cannelure.

They are a little hard to find but the 70 gr. Speer

JFP is a fantastic bullet that I use in .255 Banshee revolver shooting and single shots. It was actually made for the .25-20 Win. The bullet has a very short ojive. Also the commercial .25-20 bullets some produce, even powder coated would make for a short round and give great performance to 200 yds. at least. I've shot some 87 gr. FPGC in the .256 Raptor to 2600 fps! That's a 13" TC.

I shoot a 100 grain Sierra

in my 257 Raptor at a length of 2.615”. I don’t know if that helps. It depends on what bullet you use. I also load to about 0015” off the lands.
