Reeder Custom Guns - I just sent off almost $50 for a unique magazine

an original for my little Astra 200 .25 acp. My old one cracked at the top rear. But it's no good without a mag. The gun is well made and so cute. It shoots remarkably straight and is uber reliable. Also it's very close to useless as to practicality.

I may decide to sell it as they bring quite a princely sum these days. The funds could then be directed toward a "purse gun" for my daughter. She had a whole array of models to choose from as to CCW we already own. But a purse gun is different. Something very small and light is needed. So far she sunned some good revolver options, LW J and antique Colt Pocket Positive. She also lacks hand strength that many of us take for granted. I want her to examine the little Beretta Tomcat (I find big for what it is) and rather expensive. She likes Beretta and I think she might like the tip-barrel feature, open slide, and DA operation. She likes mechanical safeties too.

Anyone play with the Tomcat? They sure are wide to me.

They are wide and relatively heavy for caliber, especially compared to a Kel-Tec P32. Less so compared to a 1903 Colt. The extra weight does bleed off some recoil impulse and the fat receiver offers more to hold on to.
Hard to argue with the utility of the tip-up barrel. In an absolute pinch, it can be loaded one at a time.
I had to put a little polish on my Tomcat feed ramp to improve reliability with some HP bullets. Put some appliance white paint on the front sight followed by a layer of hi-viz orange.

it weighs almost nothing. It certainly is worth a look for a purse gun. I ordered my step dad one many years ago and he loves it. I got the optional pants clip that mounts to the side. The frame is "denim blue" too.

On anything from .380 on down now days I'm sticking to FMJ ball ammo. From what I've seen any limited expansion (better described as nose flattening) is more trouble than worth. I am very interested in those solid metal fluted bullets if they prove reliable in feeding.

The little Kel-tec .380 is not really notably larger than the .32 but it IS a lot more salty firing it.

Like how Gary used to say he toted his little Russian .25, the Kel-tec's are fantastic boot guns.

I took her to look at all of them. It's a great idea but she was seriously put off by the grip safety. It don't bother me but she was not having any of it. There was some little Walther (CCP?) that was blow-back in 9mm that surprisingly was easier to rack than the S&W! Ditto the Ruger small 9's, they were pretty easy to rack too. She HATED the Ruger trigger as they don't break until the very last bit of rearward movement available.

My wife chose the SIG 365X with straight trigger and no external safeties. One MUST be disciplined to always keep your fingers away from the trigger! It is a peach I admit, although I would prefer the 365XL myself. It also was the most expensive handgun we examined. Go figure. lol.

95% of the time she actually carries a Reederized custom S&W M60 .38 Special. But she has "her" SIG CCW. Her house gun has always been a S&W 657 3" in .41 Magnum! We do keep a 870 handy and at the instance of Roman, a AK folder ready to go. Such is country life with stock animals.

This is her old M60, and we keep this 17-shot Taurus G2 around too. I last busted off a couple rounds with it to scare off a pack of Coyotes howling in the pasture, freaking out the goats.

And at one point wanted an extra mag for a Beretta 950 in .22short. At the time, a factory original mag, if you could find one, was north of $100. An exorbitant amount for such a miniscule mag!
