Couple of guns just finished

We have been working extra hours trying to get some guns finished that were way behind. One of them is a 45 Backpacker for Kelly Brantly. He wanted a small frame 45 based on the smaller New Vaquero. It is chambered in 45 Long Colt. The gun is all satin Vapor Honed stainless and has a 4 inch barrel. It has all the special features the Backpacker has and more. It has the Positive Performance Package with the Deep Dish Crown, Maxi Throat and action job and is very slick and accurate. It has the smaller Gambler gripframe that is perfect for concealed carry. It has had a set of black Corian grips made and fit to it. It is channeled and scalloped to take a bit of weight off. It is free wheeled for easier loading and unloading. It has a shortened Belt Mountain Base Pin and ejector rod. It has the rounded front sight to keep from snagging in a coat pocket. All in all a really nice little Backpacker.

The second gun is a Smith & Wesson DA 45 that came in from Paco Kelly. The gun was really a basket case when we got it in here. Somebody had ground off all the logos and lettering and then plated it with some sort of silver plating. They then tried to take the plating off by grinding it. It was really a mess. Some of the internals were rusted so bad they wouldn't even work. We managed to replace all of the parts with parts we had in stock except for the hammer. I went begging and finally found a replacement hammer. We had to put the entire gun in a chemical bath to get the silver plating off and most of it came off except for a few very small places where we had a hard time getting into. Somebody tried to port it by drilling a lot of tiny holes in the front of the barrel on each side of the front sight.

All the original lettering and logos were re-stamped and the whole gun polished and had the deluxe Black Chromex finish done to it. We then built a set of new grips the size of the original grips. The gun is far from perfect but considering what it looked like when it got here, it is 100% better and ready for the next 100 years. I had some original pictures of the gun but we were hacked a couple of months ago and I lost a couple dozen folders, including the before and after folder. So you will have to use your imagination on it.
