I had my Super 14 .44 Mag punched out to .444 Marlin back in '85 or '86. Originally played with the old Hornady 265 grain and some 270 cast (both would handily break 2000fps). Barnes introduced their Original bullet in a 300 grain .430. I shot those for several years (right around 1900 fps). I tired the Sierra 300 grainers when they first introduced them (until I came to the realization that I HATE bullets that come from ugly green boxes). Switched to the Hornady 300 XTP for a while. XTPs aren't really meant to be driven close to 2000 fps.
About 14 or 15 years ago, I switched over to a 345 grain cast; velocity right at 1750. That is the bullet and load I will probably shoot the rest of my time on earth.
