Reeder Custom Guns - Had a couple of questions about the Rossi 92 in 454

Casull. Apparently there are 2 versions of it out. One is made by Howa and called the Puma. The other is the Rossi which is Braztech (Taurus)and is the model 92. Both versions appear to be out of stock.

We have a stainless 16” that shoots .38 just fine. It’s actually my daughters rifle. I have a 20” myself in .45 Colt, you can actually make it kick pretty salty with warm loads! I stick to 250 gr. or so at about 1100 fps. That would like about anything really, easy to handle too.

I know the first 454 Bob Baker and I looked at at the Shot Show was a Rossi Puma. My older Rossi .44 is also a Puma. Back in the 1930s the El Tigre/Model 92 was made in Brazil under license from Winchester. El Tigre became Puma. His Howa a manufacturer or a distributor?

of really nice rifles and has for years, like the Weatherby Vanguards. They built the really nice S&W rifles, model 1500, years ago, and have built rifles for several companies. I just looked up Rossi 454 on the net and it came up as a Howa 454 and showed several versions of it, stainless and blue. I have never seen Howa listed as a distributor. Years ago in Florida we bought Howa barreled actions and stock separate an assembled them in our shop. They were sold to us thru Interarms who was the distributor at the time. So to answer your question I think Howa is building these 454s......maybe.

In the same 20" barrel versions, the 454 is 6lb6oz, the 357 is 6lb3oz.

Supplied Freedom Arms with a pair of un-chambered Model 1894 AE in .45 Colt barrels. Freedom Arms chambered them to .454. It didn't take long for the actions to stretch and one of the guns was stolen. At least two gunsmiths that I know of chambered Marlins for .454 and they also stretched. Rossi was able to conquer it.

if you look at the add for the howa and click on the owners manual it shows a manual for the rossi m92. maybe there the same gun ?ido seam to remember hearing that the 454 actions went through some sort of special heat treatment to hold up to the 454 pressures
