Denning and Erik drive farther to borrow a cup of sugar from their neighbors, but long road trips wear me down. Yesterday I had a meeting in Little Rock then immediately left for another in Lafayette. It took over 6 hrs. all by myself. The Silverado got good mileage though, 21.8 mpg.
What road food do you monkeys prefer? Snacks to keep you refreshed and occupied.
I hit a Dollar General and got some Corn Nuts, Jerkey, and Australian Licorice ($1 a pack, you need to try it). I'm mostly off sugar right now and tried some tea with Stevia in it. Yuck! but it kept me from chugging it.

I learned to eat lite and hold way down on the carbs and soda. The carbs will make you tired and the soda causes you to stop a lot. Jerky works well just get the stuff with the least amount of salt, homemade is the best. And I drank a lot of tea also, some caffiene and you can get the stuff that has no sugar.
Try Splenda rather than Stevia. It's OK'd by

so I got me some. Supposed to make you smarter and more alert. The stuff I got tastes like bitter dark chocolate, it's not too bad, has character. It is expensive though. I'm lost without my sweet black coffee. Still not used to plain black, but I'm trying.

Only 6 hours? You’re still in the same state right?
I love you brother. I carry those baby peeled carrots. Crunchy to keep you awake. Erik is only 6 hours from me. Set the cruise. turn on the tunes and relax.
Maybe it's all the stuff I have to dodge?!!

I headed over to Pine Bluff then south through Monroe and Alexandra, on to Lafayette. If I turn my radio up loud enough I can't hear the directions from my phone! lol It does get a little tricky along the way. I did jam out to some Buddy Guy. There is lots to look at on the route though.

Local Cajuns tell me to watch for crazy coon-asses. I'm not sure what they look like, but I figured I'd know it if I see one.
I have to come back to Conference in October. I hope it does not conflict with HHC.

in the hull are both great for long trips. Grab one at a time from the bag, crack 'em open with your teeth, carefully remove the kernel and toss the empty hull into a cup. Make sure it's not your coffee cup you're drinking from.
As for coffee, I sweeten mine with a bit of lactose. Better for you than fructose or sucrose. Milk or half and half take a bit of the edge off and smooth it out. I'll drink it black as well, but prefer it with dairy.
Anyway, there's something about the process of eating pistachios and sunflower seeds that keeps you awake and alert on the road, and you don't consume a lot of calories doing so.

But I’m not supposed to eat them (tree nuts). I can do sunflowers! Great idea.

home on Friday. I’ve been doing this for 6years. New job 22minutes from home begins July 1st (thank you Lord!).
I take the following: 3 bottles of water, 2 PBnJ sandwiches and usually Kellogg’s oat squares, honey sesame sticks or popcorn. I’ve learned that the more I bring, the more I eat! Also, don’t forget to stop and stretch and walk a few steps…I also got a clot for not stopping for hours and moving.
