Still trying actual “pocket” gun options

I’ve been carrying a Kahr P380 a while as a low threat, light duty option. Seven rounds loaded and another longer 7-shot mag, or two, as back up. Hornady Critical Defense JHP is the ammo I use. However I consider it just on the wrong side of truly adequate, although very sporty and handy. Its easy to forget I’m carrying it. Honest Injun, it’s the size of an old .25 ACP piece. I dispatched a sick goat with it once and was not overwhelmed.

I shot some targets lately with it and find I’m not very accurate. I prefer head shot size groups at 15 yds., fairly fast, as my comfort limit. It’s likely me with that tiny 10 oz. rig. Stepping up to a larger Kahr .40 or .45 I’m dead-eye-dick! Ditto the J-frame S&W or century old Colt Pocket Positive .32. Jim Taylor’s super light ankle J-frame might be a better option but it would make a much larger pocket bulge. (And boy they are expensive) I carry a M60 in a Mika pocket sheath, but it’s a little big and too heavy for what I want. (“Is that a gun, or are you just happy to see me?!”) I chose the little whispy .380 as a huge leap ahead of the .25’s of my youth and it’s the only one in its class, that small and light, with an actual set of sights. I’ll try more practice as I mull things over. The factory custom Kahr .40 Covert is next in line. Six shots, 18 oz., and literally fits inside my 4”x6” jeans back pocket, but it’s twice the size of that .380. No free lunch.

the Ruger LCP Max is the one I carry now

10 rounds of 380 as opposed to the 7 round LCP. The only drawback is the better sights on the Max version results in a snag feature for pocket carry. Again what is the trade off for the sights. At 7 yds you shouldn't need sights hahaha

There is no pocket bulge if you are bulgy. Put some meat on your skinny frame!

And measuring what can save your life by today's worthless dollars is using a very poor method of measuring. Sell a couple of those plastic pistols and buy a real gun! You've got extra! :-)

Besides .. I don't have any guns. Uncle Joe says they are bad and that the government will take care of me.

I do favor the little j-frame, the 638 is one I’ve wanted

I think I need to get one for myself. It still has a reachable hammer and is very light. The .38+ P is plenty enough to suit me.
