Funny story about the 45-70 derringer. A good friend down in Sarasota back in the early 90s used to spend time in our gun shop and had the 45-70 American Derringer. He was a big black guy who had played for one of the football teams and currently was retired and was helping kids that had problems which meant he spent a lot of time out at night. His wife was very jealous and thought he was seeing another lady. He got a call one night that they needed him to work with a runaway kid. He told his wife he was going out. She flipped out and picked up his 45-70 derringer that was lying on the coffee table where he had been cleaning it. She told him she would shoot him if he left again. He went to the door and she shot him in the ass. The bullet went in the right cheek of his ass and came out the other side, all the way thru. He walked over and took the gun away from her and left. He went to the ER and told them he sat down on the gun in his Corvette and it went off. He told me the only time it really hurt was when they ran a swab in one side all the way thru. He said that hurt a bit.
One other time he was in the gun shop and there were a couple of black kids, 15 or 16 years old, in there. They both had FUCK shaved into the back of their hair. He grabbed both of them by the collar of their shirts, lifted them off the floor and told them he was coming to their houses in an hour and both of their heads better be shaved clean. He worked with the black kids to keep them off the streets. Good dude.
