and shoots a lot. This 44 Mag custom #6 belongs to one of the regulars. I think the barrel is OK along with some small parts but I will do some more measuring before I say that for sure.

It's hard to do a double charge in a 44 as most powders

(at least the ones I use) fill the case up to the base of he bullet. It could have been a ball powder with a too light load. That will cause the powder vapors to blow first and then the powder itself will go, giving a double detonation. Just like having a can of gas. Throw a match in the can and it will burn like crazy, but pour 95% of the gas out and throw a match into the can and the vapors will go off like a bomb.
