JFS asked what I would think of next ...
In between loading .44 Specials and .41 Magnums I decided since I had removed the writing from the barrel of my 1851 Navy I would go ahead and take the writing off the slide of my ATI 1911.
This gun was a present from a good friend just after my wife passed and has been my carry gun (along with the Taffin-Reeder-Taylor Star PD).
When I started working on the slide I discovered the Filipino gun had a REALLY HARD slide! The file did not "skate" but it was durn close to it. I used a nice sharp file and took my time, but it was a lot of work. However it has turned out pretty well. I can clean it up a bit more and will in the near future.

The difference in color is only due to the difference in lighting of the two different times and locations where the photos were taken.
