The incandescent lightbulb ban is now in effect. If your bulb doesn't put out a certain amount of lumens, it is a no no. Get your wife or grandmother to explain it to you. Thank goodness our politicians are looking out for us. Biden's Lumen posse is coming to your house.

Wait till their part of the grid is producing low power. Other light bulbs will not work. They need full power. Incandescent bulbs produce a nice soft glow with reduced power. And last longer. Low voltage will burn up florescent bulbs. I am not sure about LED's. But I know they don't work.

In Mozambique the voltage 220/240 .. or supposed to be. For more than a year the voltage coming into our house was between 170 and 190 volts. Some days it dropped to 130. The incandescent bulbs continued. All other burned up.

We ran voltage transformers on our refrigerator, freezer and later on, on the A/C. They kept the voltage at 220. If it dropped below 170 coming in they shut down. If it went over 230 they shut down. Saved appliances from burning up.

Colleen to go out and buy as many of the old style bulbs that she can find. In the winter here the voltage varies a LOT so the old incandescent bults will be the only way to go. I pass this along to any of the Misfits. Get the incandescent bulbs while you can. Stay away from the Florescent bulbs.

they are "green" because they use less voltage. Nonsense.

Florescent bulbs have mercury in them. Something that isn't conveniently told.

Chicken brooders for raising baby chicks are set up to use incandescent bulbs for heat and an LED won't work. What are farmers supposed to do???
I use incandescent bulbs for heat to keep pipes from freezing when it gets really cold. I just hang a trouble light with a 60W bulb next to the pipe.
I've done the same thing with tractor engines... Put a trouble light with incandescent bulb on the engine and cover with a blanket to keep it warm enough to start.

No real alternative to incandescent as LED bulbs won't work for these type of things....
